Roberto Sánchez founder of Taller 2x4 speaks with LUCA about his process.

Roberto and I met while we where landscape architect students - that was over eight years ago - and he already had years of experience working wood and concrete. He is the founder of Taller 2x4 - a wood and concrete workshop dedicated to design/build projects.

One of his many skills is the ability to manipulate scale. Because not only does he design and make a sundry of Taller 2x4 products (e.g. the swing) he also has the knowledge to manage large scale construction projects - be it landscape design or general construction. This has to do in part with knowing the materials and understanding how they behave in different contexts. It’s precisely understanding the material's behavior that stands as the core of his design process.
